Laughter Therapy

A Different Kind of Laughter

Laughter can be medicine, but not in the way we’ve often been taught. It isn’t always about jokes or cheerfulness. It can be soft. Quiet. Even tearful. At times, it arrives not through joy, but through letting go - a breath, a sound, a shake of the shoulders when the body finally gets to exhale.

We offer laughter therapy that holds space for this kind of release. You don’t need to feel happy to take part. You don’t even need to find anything funny. These sessions are not about trying to change you, or having a sense of humour... they’re about offering your body the chance to meet itself differently.

Laughter becomes a gentle tool for regulation, connection and presence. A way to say, "I’m still here. I’m still breathing. I get to feel this moment fully."

Benefits of Laughter Therapy

While the science tells us a lot about what laughter can do, the real magic lies in how it feels - in the body, in the breath, in the quiet moments afterward when something inside has shifted.

Here are some of the benefits people often experience:

✨ Emotional Release

Laughter helps move energy through the body. It loosens what’s stuck. It opens a window when things feel tight. Without needing to talk or explain, it gives space for emotion to rise and soften.

✨ Stress Relief

Intentional laughter helps lower cortisol, the hormone linked to stress. This can lead to lower blood pressure, reduced tension, and a sense of clarity or calm that lingers long after the session ends.

✨ Nervous System Support

Our sessions are designed with the nervous system in mind. Laughter, combined with breath and grounding, supports emotional regulation, helping participants shift out of fight-or-flight and into rest-and-repair mode.

✨ Connection and Belonging

Laughter in community creates bonding. Even online, people often feel less alone, more connected, and more able to access their own sense of aliveness after sharing space with others.

✨ Reclaiming Joy

Laughter therapy can help us remember that joy is not out of reach. That even amid grief, uncertainty or fatigue, the body still knows how to feel good. Not through force - but through gentle invitation.

What to expect...

Each session looks different.  You can expect a combination of:

✨ Grounding and breathwork to arrive in your body

✨ Laughter exercises that are simple, intentional and adapted to all abilities

✨ Playful movement to loosen tension and reconnect with the body’s natural rhythm

✨ Optional creative reflection, such as journaling or mindful drawing

✨ Closing rest or meditation to integrate the experience

You're always invited to participate in whatever way feels right for you. There is no pressure to keep up, share, or smile when you don’t feel like it. Witnessing is just as welcome as joining in.

Why try Laughter Therapy?

Laughter, when practised with intention, can:

✨ Reduce stress and support emotional release

✨ Soothe the nervous system and ease tension in the body

✨ Increase oxygen flow and boost energy levels

✨ Build a sense of safety, joy and connection

✨ Offer a gentle shift in perspective when things feel heavy

But beyond what the studies say, laughter is simply human. It reminds us that we’re alive. That we can still access lightness without denying our depth.

These sessions are open to anyone who wants to reconnect with their body, ease tension, or simply try something new. We work with:
